Admittedly I haven’t finished translation on Gundam 3-4 yet (irl stuff), but I will soon. After that is Date 4 (and hopefully Warabe 1 is out soon).

Thanks to Onsokkun for his diligence.

As an additional note, I have begun translation on Warabe no Kusa. It’s essentially the precursor to Date Ningen, also drawn by my god and yours, Miyanagi Ryu. It’s a joint project with taimea. Expect a release of chapter 1 soon!

(Origins is on its way, too.)

Date Ningen 01 Released!

May 10, 2011

Date Ningen is a cool new(ish) shonen manga by Miyanagi Ryu (loosely) based on Date Masamune in the Sengoku period. It’s extremely stylized and has a bit of humor, in addition to excellent art. I suggest everyone take a look at it.

Translation: shram
Editing: Onsokkun

Everyone be sure to thank Onsokumaru for his excellent work!

伊達人間 (date ningen):
だて date – Date Masamune’s family name. Also a synonym in modern Japanese for showy, gaudy, magnificent, etc.
にんげん ningen – Man, human, etc.

New news

May 6, 2011

Firstly, Origins is still being worked on, albeit slowly. The next chapter is done being translated, and it will be done editing soon.

Second, I picked up Date Ningen, which is fantastic. First chapter is done being translated, and will be edited/release soon.

Finally, for funfun, here’s some random translations that I did recently for school.

1. Momotaro (by Akutagawa Ryunosuke)
Parody of the Japanese legend.
[Original text]
[Original version of story]

2. Kumo no Ito (Spider’s Thread) by Akutagawa Ryunosuke
[Original text]

3. Third Night from Ten Nights of Dreams (Natsume Soseki)
[Original text (all 10 nights)]

If any of you are Japanese learners or are curious about how I go about translation, this is the best way to see. Keep in mind that these are done for a class, so most of it is shockingly grammatically strict to the original text. I would be much more stylized in a personal, independent translation.

Also, check for upcoming Legend of Heroes related manga releases. Again, a lot of them are done being translated, just waiting on editing to finish (broken recordrecord).

Don’t give up on me, stuff is still coming! 🙂
